Mission: Episode 1: The Milk Run
Location: Main Engineering
Timeline: Mission Day 1 at 2250

Niobe knew that she should be in bed. She knew that she would leave the relatively minor maintainace tasks to the night shift. She knew that she probably shouldn't have had an entire pot of Columbian Roast...however the stuff had pretty much gotten her through her senior year, so that was something. She leaned back in her chair, looking over the PADD in front of her and resisting the urge to get up and start barking orders at the nightshift. They knew what they were doing. Most of them. Maybe at least seventy precent.

"Stop thinking like that or you'll end up talking to yourself," she muttered.

"Sir?" Teh asked.

Niobe nearly toppled out of her chair at the appearence of the pale blue skinned Saurian that appeared in the doorway. "Shouldn't you be in bed?"

"Shouldn't you be minding that variance curve in the port nacelle?" Niobe shot back.

"Running some imbalance probablity equations," Teh replied. "Also filling out this incident report with Sanderson."

Niobe groaned. "That man is a walking incident report, dare I ask what happened now?"

"He was purging the plasma manifolds and forgot to engage the safety filters," Teh said as he continued making notes on his PADD. "Oh wow, this is his third visit to sickbay since we left spacedock? I'm beginning to understand your... irritation with the man."

"Is he okay?"

"Second degree burns and probably a concussion."

"He should be used to the concussions by now," Niobe replied. She sighed heavily. "Get Auvielle to replace on shift tomorrow and until they clear him for duty again. What do you know about these Preservers?"

Teh looked up from his PADD and blinked a few times. "Nothing outside the official reports."

"They'd have to be some very good engineers to pull off what they did," Niobe said, taking her feet off her desk.

"No doubt they have secrets of engineering that we haven't even dreampt of yet," Teh said. "But, you really should go get some sleep sir."

Niobe scowled at him.

"That might work on Sanderson and the other engineers but it won't work on me," Teh said firmly. "Now, get some sleep."

"I could have you demoted," Niobe said, getting to her feet. "Maybe put you incharge of plasma manifold maintainance for awhile."

"You could but then you'd get annoyed I wasn't putting out all the little fires on the night shift and until your protege gets some more hours under his belt, you're only other option is Sanderson."

"I'd just as soon kiss a Gorn."

"I can arrange that," Teh said, as Niobe slipped past him for the doorway. She was glad that her back was to him so he couldn't see her smile. "I know one that could use a good kiss!"
