Navigating a Medical

Posted on Wed Oct 14, 2020 @ 12:42am by Lieutenant JG Jayden Bren & Lieutenant JG Amon Narud

Mission: Episode 1: The Milk Run
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Mission Day 3 at 1100

Jayden sat back on one of the secondary biobeds, propped up so as to be sitting more upright.  He had been moved off the main bed shortly after the medical team had finished their work on his arm.  While it looked and felt good as new, Jayden had been told he needed to remain in sickbay for at least another hour while the nurses monitored his arm to ensure there weren't any residual effects.

"I really need to make sure Ensign Grong was taken off shuttle maintenance." Jayden said to himself as he sat back and watched as the medical staff went about their business throughout the spacious medical center.

Lieutenant Junior Amon Narud was tapping at a padd that had Jayden's medical information on it. He had left Jayden to have a rest though most, usually don't want to rest, the Kriosian or Valtese-he had been meaning to look into a combination word that can respect both Krios and Valt-- had a few other Medical administrational crap to tend to.

He had been lost in thought and then heard Jayden speak. Amon walked over. "What was that Lieutenant?" He asked with one eyebrow raised.

Jaydens head turned toward the doctor, he didn't think anyone would have heard him.  "Sorry, Doc.  Just talking to myself.  How much longer will I need to hang out here?  I have a few more things I'd like to get done before calling it a day."

"I've updated your medical file, is there anything you wish to add to it that you should inform your Doctor about since the last time it was updated?" Amon asked, he knew he had to pry into people's lives as many may not feel like sharing all the aches and pains they experience on a daily basis. However any medical related information was his business no matter how insignificant it may seem. He smiled softly to show he cared, of course he cared though he was soon to be off duty for a few hours.

Shrugging slightly, Jayden shook his head.  "I don't think so... anything in particular you're looking for, Doc?"

Amon shook his head. "No, a check up scan is only for immediately issues, the long term stuff requires a deep scan and most often people are embarrassed by what could be going on with their bodies. I can assure you all your medical consultations will be classified for only you and which ever medical personnel treat you after obtaining permission from me or the Chief, when we get one or if the Captain orders me to fill in on a permenant basis." He smiled. "So don't be afraid to seek medical help no matter what it may be and if you have a preferred medical officer you can request them."

"I'm generally a pretty cautious guy." Jayden responded.  "I mean every now and then I'll get a rug burn, but nothing I can't deal with on my own..." he chuckled a bit.  "I just need to stay away from Saurian helmsmen in the shuttle bay."

"A rug burn huh?" Amon asked, slightly distracted now.

Jayden shrugged, and chuckled again.  "Sometimes."

Amon smirked then nodded. "Well I still need you to stay for a little longer, it's rules you understand." He commented with a smile.

"If I've learned anything over the last year," Jayden responded, "Its that the rules aren't necessarily as ridgid as one may think... but I can stick around a little longer."

The Kriosian rolled his eyes and walked over. Amon gently placed his hands on Jayden's shoulder, he massaged the muscles and occasionally pressing a little harder to see if any of the surgery hadn't gone as expected. Though a tricorder would have given all he needed in seconds but were was the fun in that, Amon mused as he felt up Jayden's arm as well as massaged it, all in the name of assisting in the flyboi's recovery of course.

Jayden smiled, the massage would have felt nice either way, but there was something about the newly regenerated skin cells that seemed to increase their sensitivity.  "You should open a massage parlor." he mused.  "You've got talented hands."

"Maybe I should..." Amon said a little absently as he was checking the muscles were stable. The last thing he wanted was Jayden's body rejecting the new skin and at a bad time. Then he went with the faintest touch with his finger tips at the top of Jayden's shoulder and slowly caressed the skin all the way to the Trill's fingers, he was mainly testing sensativity.

"You're... Kriosian, aren't you?" Jayden asked.

Amon slowly pulled his hands away as he was satisfied that Jayden's new skin was settling well and put his hands behind his back. It was the only way to stop himself from crossing the inappropriate line, no matter if both sides wanted it. He smiled before he nodded. "Yes, though technically I am half Kriosian and half Valtese."

"I haven't met anyone else of your ancestey before." Jayden started.  "I seem to recall some of your people had... I'm not sure what it's called.  I just dont want to put you in a compromised position if you... dont want to..." he said, not being sure if he was reading too much into the additional, physical attention, the doctor was providing him.

"Are you referring to the Empathic Metamorphs?" Amon asked, it wasn't a species secret like the Trill symbionts had been and humans had encountered a female one long ago.

Jayden gave a slight smile and nodded.

"Not to worry, I am currently taking a serum to suppress my empathic senses." Amon explained with a returned smile. "Anyway, Lieutenant you are cleared to return to duty. Remember you can use the medical transporter protocol if you get burned again," Amon smirked with a wink.

Jayden half rolled his eyes and chuckled.  "If it gets me another massage like that, I may find myself using it sooner rather than later."

"I am a specialist in massage," Amon said and winked again. "Now off with you," he smirked and gave the helmsman's shoulder a gently squeeze before he walked off to head into his office.
